Home Solutions HydroBlue

Most of the hydrogen produced in the world today comes from Steam Methane Reforming (SMR), an endothermic reaction where natural gas reacts with steam at high temperatures of around 800°C and a pressure of 30 bar. In conventional SMR, about one-third of the natural gas feedstock is burned to provide the required heat, releasing carbon dioxide, SOx, and NOx into the atmosphere.

Pyramid E&C Group has developed Hydroblue® SMR, a new induction catalytic reforming technology that eliminates the need for natural gas combustion and flue gas emissions while delivering higher efficiency compared to conventional or electric reforming. After successful pilot testing, Hydroblue® SMR has reached Technology Readiness Level 7 and is ready for commercial deployment.

Hydroblue® SMR operates on low voltage and can easily work with solar photovoltaic (PV) power. Pyramid E&C supplies the reformer integrated with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to enable round-the-clock operation.
