Case Study: SULFEX™ Technology
- SULFEX™ is an advanced low-temperature, low-pressure desulfurization technology designed to reduce sulphur levels to below 10 ppm in light distillates such as naphtha, kerosene, diesel, and gasoline, without compromising critical fuel properties.
- Unlike conventional hydrodesulfurization processes that rely on high pressure, high temperature, and hydrogen-rich environments, SULFEX™ uses hydrogen peroxide as an alternative oxidant. This enables safer operations under milder conditions, while reducing energy consumption, operating costs, and process complexity.
- Developed and patented by AET Corporation, Reno, Nevada, the technology has undergone extensive validation across a wide range of fuels and operating conditions, with performance verified by independent agencies.
- Through a global collaboration, Pyramid E&C successfully engineered and delivered the first commercial-scale 1000 BPD SULFEX™ unit for deployment in Virginia, demonstrating its readiness for industrial adoption and large-scale commercialization.
Pyramid E&C owns and operates Technology Centers in Mumbai, India and Houston, Texas. These Technology Centers are used by our experienced engineers for R&D and prototyping products developed and commercialized by the Pyramid Group of Companies.
